We began our journey to Jinan after traveling yesterday (Thursday, October 12th) and arriving in Beijing late last evening (Friday, after losing a day when we crossed the international date line). We traveled by bullet train today (Saturday) and arrived in Jinan in the late afternoon. We had a welcome dinner with Mary (our Chinese host), her husband Frank, and son Patrick, and three BYU English teachers.
On Sunday, our 18 volunteers went to an Autism school where we interacted with the children and had training workshops with 35 parents and teacher. Heather, Gina, Jordan, and Levi gave presentations on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
During the workshop we had smaller break-out groups to provide more details along with hands on training.
After the workshops our group learned how to make pot stickers.
On Sunday evening our group hosted 25 Chinese singles. Erin and David gave a presentation on emotional regulation that was well received. Margo and Caitlin led the group in get-to-know-you type games that were a lot of fun.
